Curriculum Vitae Sa Bom Nim Mª del Pilar Gerarda Leguel Balcells 6º Dan de Soo Bahk Do – Moo Duk Kwan. Nacida el 1 de febrero en Méjico DF. El 3 de abril de 1973 a la edad de 4 años empezó la práctica de Moo Duk Kwan. En aquella época no había mujeres practicantes, ya que el machismo de la sociedad en Méjico, especialmente en Artes Marciales, no lo permitía. Esto era así porque el entrenamiento era tan riguroso que se consideraba exclusivo para hombres. Para desanimar a las practicantes femeninas, sus horas de práctica se restringieron sólo por las mañanas de 5:30h. A 8:30h. Además las practicantes debían de salir rápidamente de los Dojangs para no encontrarse con los practicantes masculinos, que por lo general llegaban sobre las 8:30h. El único instructor de Moo Duk Kwan que estaba dispuesto a tomar la iniciativa y la responsabilidad de dar clases a mujeres fue Ramiro Guzmán Sa Bom Nim.
Ella ha sido pionera en todos los aspectos de las Artes Marciales en Méjico, como el participar en competiciones, en aquellos años no había ningún campeonato internacional para mujeres, hasta el VII Campeonato de Taekwondo masculino u el I Campeonato Femenino de exhibición de la TKD, el cual se llevó a cabo en septiembre de 1985 en Seúl, Corea. Fue el campeonato de exhibición que permitió por primera vez la participación femenina de los países asistentes y ella participó representando a Méjico. Como participante en competiciones logró el primer puesto en el Nivel Nacional de manera consecutiva durante 10 años, desde 1975 a 1985 en Cha Yu Dae Ryon y Hion. También ganó diferentes campeonatos en Estados Unidos que se disputaron en el Madison Square Garden. A ésto le siguió su participación en algunas de las mas importantes competiciones. Todo ello a pesar de que comenzara la práctica en 1973 y no había ningún campeonato para mujeres hasta 1975 en Méjico DF ni en el resto del país. En enero de 1980 obtuvo su graduación de Cho Dan. En 1979-1980 tomó parte en el Curso Nacional de Instructor y consiguió el título de Instructora después de su graduación como Cho Dan y fue una de las primeras instructoras de Moo Duk Kwan en Méjico. In January 1980 was her graduation as a Cho Dan.
In 1979 - 1980 she took the National Instructor Course and was awarded Instructor status after her graduation to Cho Dan and being one of the first Women Instructors for the Moo Duk Kwan in México.
On February 1981 she became a National Referee and participating in the Referee's Seminars each year being one few Women to be active.
She initiated the National Women Seminars in 1984 in Guadalajara, Mexico

Sa Bom Nim Pilar Leguel Balcells is one of the first mexican women to compete in the USA.

On May 1984, at the 15th Anniversary of the Moo Duk Kwan in Mexico, she participated in a demonstration for 6000 people in Mexico City with Mr. Dai Won Moon and her teacher SBN Ramiro Guzmán.

After this 16th National TKD Championship she became the National Finalist in women's competition to represent Mexico in the 7th World TKD Championship and 1st Women Demonstration TKD Championship in Seoul, Korea in 1985.

After the 1st. World TKD Women's Demonstration Championship she retired from competition opening the way for the Mexican's women to be recognize in future International Competitions.
On December 9,1985 She got "THE SPORT MERIT MEDAL OF THE YEAR" in the Honorable Hall of Guadalajara by the Mayor Lic. Guillermo Vallarta Plata.
On December 3, 1985 she presented her Exam for Sam Dan in the Moo Duk Kwan in Mexico. The Yu Dan Ja Shim Sa was held in the National Auditorium of Art and Culture
She later went to reside in the Manhattan, New York and was asked by her teacher SBN Ramiro Guzmán to look and inquire for the "Roots of the Moo Duk Kwan" during her stay in the USA. SBN Ramiro Guzman desire to reconnect the Moo Duk Kwan in Mexico to the Founder of the Moo Duk Kwan, the Grand Master Hwang Kee, because of the interest of the growth of the Martial Arts of the Moo Duk Kwan in Mexico made us mature to find our way back to the "Roots of Moo Duk Kwan". In that time frame she finally made contact with SBN H.C Hwang. Later that year, in December 28, 1987, together with SBN Guzmán guided by SBN Frank Bonsignore met the son of the Founder of Moo Duk Kwan, Sa Bom Nim H.C. Hwang.
On October 29, 1988 she was fortunate to met the Founder of Moo Duk Kwan, Grand Master Hwang Kee, who founded one of the original styles of the Martial Arts of Korea on November 9, 1945 in Seoul, Korea.
On December 2, 1989 She did her Exam for Sa Dan in the Moo Duk Kwan in Mexico City, DF.
On August 25, 1992 was wed to SBN Ramiro Guzmán.
On September 17, 1994 SBN Ramiro Guzmán was assigned by the Gran Master Hwang Kee for his designee.
On December 5, 1994 She did her Exam for Oh Dan in the Moo Duk Kwan in Mexico City, DF.
On July 18, 1997 she was assigned by the Grand Master Hwang Kee, as the Coordinator of the Technical Adviser Committee (TAC) . Since that time until now she is responsible for all the Administrative and Activities on the National Level in México for the growth of the Mexican Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation. When she came back to the Roots of Moo Duk Kwan she had to get her Dan Bon and her Sa Dan status in the Original Moo Duk Kwan at the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa on November 1997 in Springfield, New Jersey at the Joong Ahn Do Jang. (This is the group of the Sa Dan Candidates in 1997)
After reevaluating her Sa Dan status she was legible to reevaluate her Oh Dan at the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa on November 18 to the 26, 1998 that was held at Upstate New York and in which 11 women participated.
She was candidate for Yuk Dan status in the Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan and attended the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa on November 8 to the 16th 2004 in Seoul, Korea. She was the only woman presenting this evaluation for Yuk Dan.
She is the mother of Yisel Mi Guzmán Leguel, 15 years old, Junior Sam Dan and Anthony Kyung Guzmán Legue, 12 years old, Junior E Dan. |
