2017 End of Year and New Year Message From Kwan Jang Nim

Dear Moo Duk Kwan members and families,

I trust you and your family are celebrating a fruitful 2017 and preparing to receive a Happy New Year.

I am glad to say that I was able to participate in many of National and International Moo Duk Kwan events in 2017 while sharing my thoughts on current needs and future plans for the Art.

We had discussed on strengthening our identity as Moo Duk Kwan practitioners by embracing the founder’s teaching of Sun (line), Sok (speed), and Mi (beauty), which are created by the Huh Ri.  After all, the Moo Duk Kwan picture is created based on this concept.

We also discussed on how to uphold the Moo Duk Kwan identity through generation changes by preserving the Moo Duk Kwan PICTURE and the five MOO DO VALUES (History, Tradition, Philosophy, Discipline/Respect, and Technique).   Why the five MOO DO VALUES are important for the Moo Duk Kwan practitioners was discussed.  We learned that the five MOO DO VALUES become principles which are direct results of actions from the Founder and his disciples.  Philosophy (Principle) in Action is alive in the Soo Bahk Do, Moo Duk Kwan through the five MOO DO VALUES.

I requested 3 things to all Moo Duk Kwan members;

  1. MOO DO CHUNG SHIN (SPIRITS)

PHILOSOPHY influences the MIND -> the MIND forms INTENT -> INTENT inspires ACTION.  Take initiatives toward a healthy Moo Do world with the ACTIONS.

  1. BOW TO THE ART

Honoring the PAST creating the FUTURE”.  Be appreciative of the Respect and Credibility that was built by the PAST (Practitioners). Be supportive to build the future leaders of the ART.

  1. VISIBILITY OF THE ART (by sharing the ART)

Strengthening our Do Jang and membership - internally

One Moo Duk Kwan movement worldwide – externally

If you have not had the chance to participate in this discussion, please consult with your TAC officials in your country and find out more details for your participation.

My family and I wish you and your family the best during the holiday season and we hope you have a very Happy New Year in 2018.

Yours in Moo Duk Kwan,

HC Hwang
