Will International Competition Participants Receive Medals?
QUESTION: Since the USA National Tournament resulted in participation medals for all and an extra large medal for those who placed, I wanted to be sure to let my students know what to expect, or more importantly what NOT to expect.
Am I correct in advising there will be no medals? Or only medals for those who placed (half of our international champions did not place in Nationals)? Or certificates only?
ANSWER: Due to a multitude of International variables, we were only able to get consensus for collecting the $10 processing fee for participants from all countries (and all currencies) who entered the international event and thus did not collect additional International Entry Fees to cover the costs of delivering medals to USA participants.
Each country was empowered to collect their own International Entry fees in addition to the $10 processing fee and each country can choose to distribute awards --or not--based on the amount of funds generated through their International Entry fees.
USA Headquarters will be preparing PDF certificates for worldwide distribution to all participants via their Zone representative and another for winners.
