This is the first year that the National Festival was held in a face to face participation for contestants. As has been the tradition, the Festival started with the Thursday seminars. The afternoon seminar was taught by Brian Corrales, Sa Bom Nim, TAC Digital Bu, with the Instructor and Studio Owner's seminar. In particular, a discussion concerning the new changes for Kyo Bom and Bu Sa Bom. This year's evening seminar was conducted by Craig Hays, Sa Bom Nim, and Chairman for the TAC in the United States. The topic was Sip Dan Khum Sparring Applications. This series covered the two person drill to develop Sparring combinations for the Sip Dan Khum Hyung. The first drill was introduced and presented to Ko Dan Ja and Dan members who attended. Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang, was present during this training, to help, clarify, and support Hays Sa Bom Nim's instruction and demonstrations. It was a very valuable seminar, and as Kwan Jang Nim emphasized how good these drills were for senior members to remain active in their training and discipline.
Then on Friday morning, the Festival went into full gear. With opening ceremonies, Kwan Jang Nim's Welcome address, and USA Federation TAC members introductions, and other US Federation business. This was also the perfect opportunity for our new Chairman of the Board, John Kim, Sa Bom Nim, to introduce himself to the present membership.
After all the introductions were done, the program went into overdrive. The morning seminars were taught and participation by those present was strong, and good lessons were learned by all.
Of particular interest was the introduction of the Silver Moo Do In, for practitioners 65 and older. This seminar, which I attended, was conducted by Brian Corrales, Sa Bom Nim, TAC member. The Kwan Jang Nim also walked in, to basically say that this was the first program in the development, and that Official introduction will be by Zoom Presentation sometime in upcoming August 2022.
I am not going to describe the demonstrations or the rest of the seminars, or the afternoon KDJ and DAN competitions for hyung and sparring, both regional and Team competitions. Saturday events were also excellent that included opening ceremonies, Moo Do Sparring and in the afternoon, Gup and team demonstration competitions.
After the competitions were completed, there was a time for a "Meet and Greet" with Kwan Jang Nim. Then it was to end the Festival with the evening Banquet, which had some creative entertainment and some last second comic entertainment by Ian Prior, Sa Bom Nim, who is also a professional stand up comic. Championship Trophies were presented and the evening ended with long goodbyes and some spontaneous dancing just outside the Banquet area, and everyone prepared to leave the event location starting for some, early Sunday morning. In his closing remarks, the Kwan Jang Nim wanted to thank everyone who attended, and bring to the attention, those working members, who helped to keep things moving and on time, a special thank you to Mary Kay Stinehour, Sa Bom Nim, who was directly thanked for her relentless energy and support throughout the Festival. Well Done.
For the rest, I will let the photos below, do the rest of the talking. I want to thank all who posted with photos and videos on Facebook for making these photos below, public.
